The EU funded projects ECO-SEE and [H]house will hold a cluster workshop, discussing the role of clay materials for an improved indoor air quality at the LEHM 2016. Pete Walker (University of Bath), Matthias Richter (BAM) and Andrea Klinge (Roswag Architekten) will present latest project results with regards to moisture buffering of natural building materials, materials emissions as well as the adsorption of airborne pollutants.

ECO-SEE and [H]house are two EU-funded projects within the FP7 framework. Both projects deal with eco-materials to improve indoor air quality in energy efficient buildings. Both projects are using clay based materials to achieve this. The cluster meeting is an opportunity to exchange information. First results will be presented to the participants of cluster meeting and during the LEHM 2016 in separate presentations.

The ECO-SEE and [H]house projects aim to address an emerging health problem associated with modern low carbon buildings. Modern buildings have been developed to be very airtight, improving their energy efficiency and reducing their carbon footprint. However, these sealed environments have created unexpected side effects, with research showing that a build-up of potentially harmful chemicals in the air is potentially causing negative impacts on occupants.

The free of charge event will will be hosted by the Dachverband Lehm e.V. and is part of the LEHM 2016.

Venue: Jugend- und Kulturzentrum Mon Ami
Time: Sunday afternoon, 2.30–5.00 pm
